Condo/Hotel Computer Vision Ideas

My family and I were on our annual beach vacation, during covid-19, and I had a few ideas on how to help out the condo/hotel industry.

Elevators​

Elevators can give a condo building a super bad rap. Take a look at this review from the building we were staying at.

We experienced this problem first hand. While in one of the elevators, I thought there had to be a way to solve this problem with computer vision

  • we stayed on the 15th floor
  • the hotel had a restriction, four individuals or one family are allowed.
  • we happened to start going to the beach when everyone else did in the building
  • so on the way down to basement, we stopped at every floor, nearly every day
  • all of the elevators had a camera

Wouldn't it be cool if there was some software that could determine that there are x number of heads in the elevator. If you are above the max number of people in the elevator, just take them to their destination.

Amenity Analytics​

Let's say you own a condo or hotel building and you are curious where to invest your money to build more desirable amenities for your guests.

What if we could attach a camera to the back of the building and simply point it at the amenities below us. Using computer vision over time we could determine how often guests use each amenity.

This information could help inform building owners which amenities/areas are popular and which ones could possibly be replaced from lack of usage.
